Happy New Year everyone!

Saturday book club will be meeting to discuss The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.  They meet at 9:30 a.m. Anyone is welcome to join them.  February they will be discussing James: A Novel by Percival Everett - When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond. James is a brilliant, action-packed reimagining of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, both harrowing and darkly humorous, and told from Jim's point of view.  They will meet on Saturday, February 15th at 9:30 a.m. In the library.

We will be closed on Monday, January 20th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Please plan accordingly if you are in need of books.

Tuesday, January 21st is Matinee Day.  We will be showing Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Rated PG13 at 1:00 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to join us.

In regard to things going on in Pierre and budget proposals with budget cuts to the State Library we have set up an advocacy table with information regarding this topic.  We have postcards you can fill out and we will send them to the legislature to read.  We are looking for testimonials to tell them what why the State Library is important to you.  We need to be heard and put up a fight.  As librarians we rely on the state library for training and the databases they offer.  We are some of them for story time sessions and others for research.  Please be sure to see our website and follow us on Facebook for updates and more information
