City of Lennox Public Works
The City of Lennox Public Works Department is comprised of three key departments: Streets, Parks/Rec, and Water/Wastewater/Utilities. Each with its own unique challenges. These departments collectively employ six full-time employees. four in streets and parks, and two in water/wastewater/utilities. As well as several part-time employees throughout the summer months. Together, they are responsible for operating more than 20 pieces of equipment and other assets that help maintain and improve more than 16 miles of roadways, sidewalks, multi-use trails, museum, parks, campground, city pool, baseball/softball fields, city owned properties, and the infrastructure beneath them. All departments cross train regularly to maximize knowledge, workflow, and problem solving. It is an exceptional team that strives to make everyday life in Lennox the best it can be.
Meet the Team
Brian Lathrop: Brian is the Streets Superintendent who oversees a lot of the public works day to day operations. He began his employment in July of 2019 with more than 10 years’ experience in the industry. He oversees the streets and parks departments and holds a few different certifications including fleet management. He is currently working on his CPWP-S (Certified Public Works Professional-Supervision) certification and Emerging Leaders Academy.
Kyle Ramynke: Kyle started with Lennox in May 2020 with more than ten years’ experience in the water industry. He holds a class III wastewater treatment license working towards the highest class IV, which is an incredible achievement, and is the Utilities Superintendent. His responsibilities include managing utilities employees and the WWTF (Wastewater Treatment Facility) as well as water and sewer throughout town, hydrants, valves, and both water towers. Kyle's role is crucial to the success of the city's wastewater and drinking water systems.
Drew Sweeter: Drew joined the team in April 2023 with several years of experience in parks maintenance and groundskeeping. His focus is running the day-to-day operations and supervising part-time summer help for the parks department during the warmer months. During winter months, Drew assists the streets crew with snow removal, sanding operations and other winter equipment maintenance. He also holds a Certified Pool Operators License.
Kevin Cheppenko: Kevin joined the City of Lennox team in June 2023 and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in street, equipment, and parks maintenance, as well as recreation administration. Among many other things, Kevin is the city’s main street sweeper operator, and an integral part of the everyday success of the department.
Andy Lambert: Andy’s employment began in November of 2023, and comes to the city with several years of experience in public service in Iowa and Lincoln County, SD. He also has extensive mechanical and welding experience. He is the city's main grader operator and is also an integral part of the team.
Dustin Lau: Dusty started with the city in October of 2024. He came to us from the City of Flandreau and is part of the water/wastewater department working alongside Kyle to maintain the WWTF and city infrastructure. He holds a class II wastewater collection/distribution license and has helped propel the utilities department even further.
