While we still may be in the depths of winter, it’s never too early to start making plans for spring and summer. If your warm weather to-do list includes making repairs or renovations to your home, you should consider applying for the Lennox Area Development Corporation’s Home Improvement Incentive! The program helps Lennox residents upgrade their properties by reimbursing them for up to 25% of total project costs—capped at $10,000—for exterior improvements like new siding, windows, and doorways.
The Home Improvement Incentive was launched in 2022 to make sure that our community’s older neighborhoods remain vibrant. Lennox has seen tremendous investment in housing the past few years, but most of that investment has been channeled into new housing like in the Countryside Addition. With rising labor and building material prices, existing homes are often what remains affordable to purchase for many working families. The Home Improvement Incentive is intended to steer some investment back into these residences so that they remain attractive, comfortable, and healthy places to live for both current residents and for people moving to the community in the future. Since its inception, the program has helped twenty residents invest over $300,000 in their homes!
Thanks to a contribution from the City of Lennox, a total of $76,968.28 are available for projects in 2024. Owners of properties identified as being dilapidated or out of code will have priority for funds, but all homeowners are welcome to apply. Even if it’s something small like installing more energy efficient windows or applying a fresh coat of paint, there’s plenty of funding available and the LADC wants to help. The application process is simple and doesn’t require much more than answering a few simple questions and having a licensed contractor of building supplies provide a cost estimate for your project.
