At last night’s City Council meeting, the following actions were taken:
- Consent Agenda – Most department head reports were presented to the City Council for review. Several questions and comments were provided by the Council, with he largest concern being the damaged auger at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Additional information was shared by Police Chief Will Ericksen, who noted that the National Highway Traffic Safety Grant for Lennox was approved. With these funds, the Lennox Police Department will purchase two new laptops, and provide overtime patrol focuses on specific safety violations.
- Meadows Drainage Repairs – Discussion was held on whether or not to move forward with a drainage and major street repair project on East Poplar, South Poplar, and E Prairie. The City Council requested an additional estimate for a recurring issue, and the matter was tabled for a later meeting.
- T-Mobile Grant – The City Council approved a grant request for the Community Library. If awarded, the grant will provide funding to re-construct the circulation desk at the Library.
- Contingency Transfer Resolution – The City Council approved a resolution that moved money out of the General Fund’s contingency line item and into three departments that are or will exceed their budgeted amounts. Additional contingency funds are still available, and the City’s budget is looking very good going into the fall.
- Windsong Place – The City Council heard an update on the current status of the acceptance of Windsong Place’s infrastructure.
- Personnel – The City Council approved the hiring of a Part-Time Police Officer
