Building Permits
The City of Lennox requires building permits for "..the construction, reconstruction, alteration, enlargement, moving, or demolition or any building or structure or any portion thereof, or with the construction of curb and gutter, sidewalks or driveways approaches..." - taken from the Revised Municipal Ordinances of the City of Lennox, South Dakota 2002.
Permit applications can be obtained at the city office located at 107 S. Main. You may also call the city office if you would like an application mailed to you. Fees for permits are based on the estimated value of the work being done. The minimum fee is $20.00. Lennox, South Dakota
The City of Lennox is a great blend of new and old. We have a new high school, new community library, new water towers, new baseball field improvements, and our latest new is beautiful street lights for our downtown area. Our old is preserved through our Historical Society in the local museum which once served as a hospital for the community. City to Read Meters: The Public Works Department will be reading water meters at the beginning of January and February to set sewer rates for the upcoming year. Please call the City Office at 647-2286 should you receive a notice that they were unable to read your meter. New Recreation Board Forming Applications are being taken to form a committee which would help put into place a Recreation Board for the City of Lennox. The Recreation Board would oversee activities such as baseball, softball, crafts, soccer, and the municipal pool just to mention a few possibilities. A committee is needed to help the city with state and local ordinance requirements and changes, a budget for the committee, guidelines and other needs that arise from research into the project. If you are interested in serving, applications are available at City Hall or can be downloaded from this website (found below). Call the City offices 605-647-2286 for more information. Voice Your Opinion About the Swimming Pool Lennox residents can voice their opinion about the swimming pool project. The Lennox Independent newspaper is sponsoring polls and dialogue on their website as well as information about the pool committee members. Take a few moments to give your input.
